Changes to my study programme

Hi! , I hope people who are reading my blog are having a wonderful day, today I will tell you a little about the study program of the Architecture degree at the University of Chile, a career that I am currently studying.

The curriculum of my career consists of 3 lines of training, the basic one consisting of the core subjects to be able to develop more in depth in the career, such as mathematics, physics and geometry. The second is specialized which consists of the most specific subjects within the areas of the career, such as urbanism, structure, design and history of architecture, along with specializations and the last line of training is the complementary which is the 4 levels of English compulsory and a subject of general training that can be some sport or training in some other area outside the career.

The program lasts 11 semesters, taking approximately 6 subjects per semester, which has different requirements and hours dedicated according to the assigned credits, Being workshop the subject with greater direct and indirect work hours at home since it is where we develop projects.

The university has 7 buildings in the faculty which houses 3 careers, regarding infrastructure personally I find that it does not have enough comfort to be able to host in a good way the career of architecture being an old patrimonial building which was not built to be an educational enclosure, lacking many amenities such as places to work, a casino that can accommodate all students, places to shelter from the rain, better printing places, green areas, places where you can do sports in a good way, among others.

Regarding technology, the university doesn’t have a lot of technology implemented, the basics like computer rooms, However for the correct development of the career each student must have his computer which is able to support the programs that are needed to develop projects individually, since only the first year is performed planimetry by hand. Everything also works via the Ucursos platform, where notes, works, assists and notes go up.

The teaching methods vary by teacher and subject, as we are taught and evaluated in different ways. In workshop is a practice of proposing and correcting projects, those of history are taught and evaluated with tests, those of urbanism are to perform analysis and work together tests, finally those of structure that are theoretical and calculation tests.

Thank you so much for reading another one of my blogs! :)

Take care.
